The app store for indie developers

IndieStore (indiestore.lol) is an app store built exclusively for independent software developers: solo makers, indie hackers and small self-funded teams. Companies and large organisations cannot list apps. Listing is free forever, rankings are based only on real usage and community activity, payment never buys a ranking, and every newly launched app is featured for its first 7 days in a fair, shuffled order.

Frequently asked questions

What is IndieStore?

IndieStore is an app store built exclusively for indie developers. It's where independent makers, indie hackers and small self-funded teams list the software they build, and where people who want to buy from indie developers come to discover it.

Who can list an app on IndieStore?

Only independent makers: solo developers, indie hackers and small self-funded teams who built the product themselves. Every maker links and verifies their personal X (Twitter) handle, and accounts that X marks as businesses or organisations can't list apps. Large companies are not allowed.

How much does it cost to list an app?

Nothing. Listing on IndieStore is free, forever. Every listing also gets a dofollow backlink to the maker's website.

How are apps ranked on IndieStore?

By real usage and real people: verified visitors from the maker's own analytics, clicks to the app's website, views, upvotes and conversation over the last 7 days. Paying never buys a ranking. Makers' own activity, bots and repeat clicks don't count.

Do new apps get a fair chance?

Yes. Every newly launched app is featured for its first 7 days in IndieStore's new-launch sections, in a fair shuffled order, with no traffic or followers needed.

Can I pay to rank higher?

No. Organic rankings can't be bought. Makers can sponsor a clearly labelled slot in the side column, but sponsored slots never affect rankings, new-launch placement or app view counts.

What does 'verified usage' mean?

A maker can connect their own analytics (DataFast, Plausible, Simple Analytics or Pirsch) with a read-only key. IndieStore checks the key belongs to the app's domain and shows the real visitor numbers, so traction can't be faked.

How is IndieStore different from Product Hunt?

IndieStore is only for independent makers, so indie apps don't compete with big companies. Rankings come from real usage over a rolling week rather than a single launch-day vote, listing is free, and every new app gets a guaranteed fair launch window.

How do I list my app?

Sign in with Google, verify your personal X handle, then submit your app's link. IndieStore fills in the name, icon and description from your website, and your app is live immediately.
